How
to describe the feeling of a full moon in May? This is how Mira
captured it over 500 years ago.An indian woman she chose to leave her
rich family and to live the life of a sadhu: wandering from temple to
temple, often sleeping in the open. her world famous poetry evokes the
merging of the erotic and the sacred in powerful imagery. this poem
inspired me to start translating mystical poems and writing my own.

the moon was perched like a golden hawk on
the mango tree.
I knew the moon was like me- in heat, craced and hunting.
